LIUPCP – finest example of community-led development initiative: Chandpur Mayor

The Government of Bangladesh has been encouraging the participation of the urban poor in their development. Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project has demonstrated that the urban poor communities are no longer neglected as legitimate urban citizens with the right to voice their concerns and influence their development and the development of their towns. Md. Jillur Rahman, Mayor, Chandpur Paurashava, opines that the project has been highly successful in giving them the voice.
