336 urban poor families of Gopalganj Paurashava to get low-cost housing
GOPALGANJ, NOVEMBER 12 (2020): Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP) of the Local Government Division (LGD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today with the Gopalganj Paurashava to construct low-cost housing for 336 urban poor families.
Gopalganj Paurashava Mayor Kazi Liakot Ali and Abdul Mannan, Joint Secretary & National Project Director, LIUPCP signed the MoU on behalf of the respective sides.
According to the MoU, 3.45 acres of land has been allocated where 336 units of low-cost housing will be constructed for 336 poor families at Manikdaha, Charshonakur under Ward 9 of the paurashava involving BDT 30 crore.
Councilors, Paurashava officials and project staff of LIUPCP were present during the signing ceremony.
The LIUPC project is being implemented with financial and technical support from the Government of Bangladesh, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the UK Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
It focuses on five major areas that include climate resilient housing for low-income urban poor people. It also works to improve tenure security, access to housing loans and financing for the poor and promote affordable and resilient housing for the urban poor.
