    LIUPCP’s Annual Planning Workshop 2020




    As the new year 2020 begins, Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP) has organized its Annual Planning Workshop 2020.

    By now, LIUPCP under the National Urban Poverty Reduction Program (NUPRP) of UNDP has completed 2 years of its operation.

     

    This government-led project is a joint initiative of the Local Government Division (LGD), Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives (MoLGRD&C) with financial and technical support of United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Government of Bangladesh and the Department for International Development (DFID).

    The new year has started with high expectation in terms of budget, grants and community mobilization against the backdrop of remarkable progresses in socio-economic and infrastructure development of poor people across the project cities in 2019.

     

    Taking the lessons learnt in 2019, LIUPCP’s Annual Planning Workshop 2020 has witnessed active engagement of town managers and the government counterparts. The workshop has paved the way for better collaboration, innovation, partnership and synergies among program, operations as well as town.

    The objective of the workshop is to carefully review city wide progress and backlog of 2019 and look for 2020 targets. The workshop also shared and discussed emerging issues, implementation challenges including operations and program management as well as actions points and practical solutions.

     

    Addressing the inaugural function, Joint Secretary of the Government and National Project Director of LIUPCP Md Abdul Mannan appreciated the team members at the headquarters as well as city corporations and paurashava for their relentless efforts in implementing the project activities.

    Ashikur Rahman, Head of Poverty and Urbanization, UNDP Bangladesh, Yugesh Pradhanang, International Technical Advisor and acting project manager of LIUPCP and Sarder Asaduzzaman, Senior Project Manager for LIUPCP and Activating Village Court in Bangladesh Project were also present.

     

    Dhaka-based LIUPCP staffs, all Town Managers and Member Secretaries of respective City/Town Project Board are attending the workshop in two phases.
