    Safe Community Committee: Action speaks against Gender-based violence

    Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP) under the National Urban Poverty Reduction Programme (NUPRP) has been promoting Safe Community Committee (SCC) across 20 city corporation and paurashava of Bangladesh. The impact is now evident in this short documentary as these committees joined hands with the elected public representatives, city corporation and paurashava officials, youths and stakeholders to fight against Gender-based violence (GBV) and benefitting the poor, helpless and traumatised women. The LIUPC project, under the Local Government Division (LGD) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives, is being implemented with support from UK in Bangladesh UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and technical assistance from United Nations Development Programme in Bangladesh. The project will continue to fight against GBV and human rights violation in any form in the urban poor communities of Bangladesh.
